I thought the Minecraft lesson was a creative way to engage students with technology while keeping them motivated to learn a new lesson in class. At first, most seemed reluctant to work in Minecraft because there was a stigma that the game was for kids (myself included). However, there was so much to explore in the game that students in every class were excited to sign up and continue working on their lessons. Students in the class had ideas for lessons that never seemed possible to complete on a video game. It was a great learning experience because now I'm thinking about how it could be implemented in a French or Spanish classroom context. Say no to plagiarism. At first I thought worldbuilding would be easy and seamless, but trying to accommodate the needs of everyone in my party was frustrating. Overall, however, this project showed me how any technology can be used to motivate and interest students in learning about a topic that may not seem too interesting. I learned how to perform simple tasks in Minecraft and this exact process will happen in real life too. As I get older, there will be more technologies that I am not familiar with that I will need to integrate into my classroom to maintain my students' interests. I learned to be more open with unfamiliarity and that with the help of more advanced peers, simple tasks could turn into entire lessons. Minecraft demonstrated Egypt well as it was easy for students to see the physical differences in the structures. There was also room to integrate activities such as regattas in Egypt. This interactivity cannot be found in a lecture on the Pyramids or while watching a documentary. Furthermore, by watching videos and lessons from other groups, I understood how there are multiple ways to approach each lesson. No two groups were the same and there was a surge of creativity seeing the different ways each group chose to design their lessons. Using Minecraft in the classroom has deepened everyone's understanding of the technology itself and how other technologies can be implemented in the classroom. and the various problems that might arise in a classroom. Some disadvantages, however, were the negative aspects resulting from the use of technologies. Although the software was free, many students had difficulty downloading it onto their laptops. Additionally, connecting everyone to the same server took time out of class where we could build or discuss problems. However, overall, the experience was fantastic and taught me what to expect in my years to come as a teacher.
