Some of us want successful relationships, some like to get more money, others simply want happiness in their life and still others seek better health with less weight. These are common goals and sometimes we fail or fail to achieve them. The big question is: why don't we achieve these goals? Why don't we achieve these goals? The general answer is a lack of self-discipline. Say no to plagiarism. Get a tailor-made essay on "Why Violent Video Games Shouldn't Be Banned"? And it must work against robust and uncontrolled emotional responses. Also, don't let self-control be viewed as a limiting and unpleasant activity. How do you develop self-control? First find out which areas of your life need more self-control and these could be: drinking, gambling, smoking, obsessive behaviour, eating and then try to identify the emotions that lack control, such as being angry, dissatisfied, sad, resentful, joy. or fear. See if you can isolate the thoughts and emotions that cause you to act unrestrainedly. The last decade of research in human psychology has revealed many ways in which you can improve willpower or self-discipline. A Stanford psychologist, Kelly McGonigal, identifies the following four methods to improve willpower. A Sense of Faith and Importance The journey to good self-discipline must begin with a deep sense of faith and belief. You must have a strong and unshakable belief that self-discipline is not only achievable, but possessing such discipline is vitally important in life. Placing a high level of importance on developing self-discipline will mean you'll be more likely to get the job done. Things that are not important; that have little or no value are the things that are often set aside or put aside. When you place a high value on something, you are more likely to put in more time and effort to get it. So getting to a place where you can realize that an undisciplined life can be seriously inhibiting and destructive, then hopefully this is an important enough issue to work on and address. The Danger of Excessive Self-Discipline For most people, there is a level of tolerance for this type of self-sacrifice. At some point people will rebel against their self-imposed limitations and simply “spend the money” on something. It might be something they think they really need, but more often it's something they really want. People are naturally disinclined to delay short-term gratification for long-term gratification. We live in the present. We want things now. If you deny yourself everything you could buy and live in some form of self-imposed poverty just to save money, you and your family will eventually rebel and spend it. The danger is that the breakdown of this self-imposed denial goes unchecked and you may end up spending much more than you should. Consistent steps towards self-discipline Just as small but constant steps are needed to grow,so small steps are needed to take to grow and become a disciplined person. You can't be disciplined overnight. People who have tried it give up and return to their initial life of undiscipline. Discipline takes time to develop, but you have to be determined. The more you try to take disciplined steps, the stronger you become. For example, start with something small that makes you feel happy. He might exercise for 15 minutes a day, wake up 10 minutes earlier, etc. Get enough sleep One of the most common ways to improve willpower is to get more sleep. Lack of sleep actually prevents us from operating at our peak willpower capacity. If we are sleep deprived, our prefrontal cortex does not activate enough, which means our restrictive mind is not in action and we easily give in to impulses. It is important to get a good night's sleep. For most people it takes 7 hours. If you have not slept 7 hours and even if you are not sleepy, your cortex is not yet functioning at full capacity. So it is very important to sleep 7 hours. Meditation is one of the tools that can be used effectively to help with the increasing amount of sleep you may be getting. Importance of Observation Often when you are developing skills, such as self-discipline, you have to use other skills to achieve your goal. Observation – I don't care who you are, if you lack observation skills, you will also lack the ability to develop the skills necessary to reach any point of success in life. If you are developing entrepreneurial skills, now is the time to focus observation. Observation is your tool that allows you to examine, study, and reflect on what you learn. In fact, observation builds opinions, praise, thoughts, etc., which obviously also build communication skills and self-discipline. To learn to deal with your discomforts, you will have to learn to observe your behaviors, actions, thoughts and so on. Keeping track of what you do helps you develop the skills you need to achieve your goals. Creativity Creativity and imagination are enhanced. Creativity is so important as it helps not only solve problems but solve them in a unique way. There are no limits to how a problem can be solved. Ideas flood the imagination and provide a multitude of ways to handle a problem. Most people think in narrow channels and fail to broaden their scope. They don't think outside the box. Get Organized Act with conviction in whatever task you undertake. Have a written list of goals to achieve and a detailed action plan. Promise yourself that you will complete a task within a given time. So that it gives you the right frame of mind and helps you stop running away from challenges. Reward yourself for every small achievement. Focus on one task at a time. Do not divert your attention and always proceed according to a defined action plan. Start slowly, but gradually increase the pace as you develop your skills. Self-discipline as a habit Reap the benefits. Effective self-discipline becomes a habit, something you do without conscious thought. Many times we think about it in terms of “I have to xxx”. We don't usually stop to think about the time and other resources they free up for us to use for entertainment. When you consistently use tools 1 and 2, you need to reward yourself, at a minimum, for avoiding crisis management, the worst drain on resources we have. As difficult as it may seem, it is essential to make time to put ourselves first! Taking this step renews our vision of life, work, family, relationships and a host of, 48(4), 943–947.
