IndexMy leadership experienceConclusionReferencesWhat is leadership? Leadership is a process of establishing a clear vision and guiding a group of people to achieve a common goal within an organization. What is a leader? A leader is a person who provides the information, knowledge and methods to achieve a vision. It also coordinates and balances the conflicting interests of all members of an organization. Leadership involves the leader stepping up in times of crisis and being able to think and act creatively in difficult situations. In the 2010 article “to inspire you” John Maxwell states that Leadership is a process of social influence, which maximizes the efforts of others, towards achieving a goal. In the article Leadership in Organization, Garry Yukl (2011) defines leadership as a process of influencing others to understand and agree on what needs to be done and how to do it, and the process of facilitating individual and collective efforts to achieve shared goals . Viewing leadership as a process means that leaders influence and are influenced by their employees, either positively or negatively. Therefore, leadership is a two-way process, an interactive event between leaders and followers rather than a linear process. Say no to plagiarism. They motivate and inspire others to go in the right direction and, together with everyone else, sacrifice themselves to get there. I wasn't a born leader, but somehow I discovered leadership qualities in myself. I would like to tell an episode from my nursing school when I became a leader. We organized a cancer awareness day in our hospital. Being a B. Sc Nursing Intern, my best friend was given the responsibility of organizing Cancer Awareness Day in the hospital premises. But she entrusted herself to me because she was busy in those days. I had no confidence in myself and even rejected her to take responsibility. Because of her hope in me and her encouraging words, I decided to become a leader. First, I had to create separate teams so they could work collaboratively. I created several teams, such as the prayer song team, the catering team, the maintenance team and, most importantly, the presenters. All team members worked very hard and there were some clashes between team members which I resolved at my level. It was an exciting time for all of us because we not only loved the work but also learned many new things. I was able to organize and lead the team for that wonderful function. Everyone was amazed by the efforts of my entire team. In the end our First Guest really appreciated our work and gave us a token of love as a reward. This incident helped me reveal my leadership qualities and strengthen my character. Now I am very sure that if I improve my skills by practicing, I will definitely become an effective leader. Leadership qualities are very necessary in professional sphere and for a bright future. Leadership doesn't just mean giving orders to do something, but also inspiring them to do the work and helping them work collaboratively with each other. This is the conclusion I have come to in this case. In the article “What Leaders Really Do” John Kotter describes the qualities of a professional leader. It also places emphasis on challenges.
