Immigrant parents don't like the idea of Westernization, especially since the cultures have been with them for many centuries and they don't feel the need to change just because they came here . They are very ignorant in understanding new concepts and ideas because they feel like their way of life was perfect and anything new is unnecessary. As a first generation American myself, one thing I hate about my parents is expecting everything I do to be perfect and nothing less than a failure caused by American culture. Living in an immigrant family, I learn a lot about both cultures and understand most of the reasons why things are the way they are. There are many things I didn't get to experience when I was younger, mostly because of my parents' traditions and their beliefs about how I should have been raised. There were also many things that indirectly led me to be successful, due to the different lifestyle. There are many things that happen to people like me, some of the most popular are: getting good grades in school; Having a very limited social life; Become polite; Never receive compliments
