Death offers the story and an interesting perspective that other books don't have. The Book Thief fits into the genre of contemporary realistic fiction because it has realistic characters, is sensitive to religions, races, and genders, and features events that are true to history along with realistic ones. This story would also work great in the classroom because students have more fun reading something with a story than reading from a textbook. All in all it is a very enjoyable book and can be read by all young people
