Animals are used in research to develop new medicines and to allow scientists to test the safety of medicines. This animal testing is called vivisection. Research is conducted in universities, medical schools, and even primary and elementary schools, as well as in commercial facilities that provide animal experiments to industry. (British Parliament) Furthermore, animals are also used in cosmetic testing, toxicology testing, “defensive research” and “xenotransplantation”. Around the world, large numbers of animals are condemned to life in laboratory cages and forced to experience loneliness and pain. Plus scientists cause pain, most drugs that succeed in animals fail in humans. It qualifies as bad science. Above all, animals have the right not to be harmed, even though the Animal Welfare Act does not provide them with even minimal protection. The law does not deem it necessary to use current alternatives to animals, even if available. Animal testing should be banned due to animal rights, ethical issues, alternative methods, and the unreliability of human test results. First of all, animal testing should be banned to protect animal rights. In other words, animal rights are violated by experimentation on them. Animals and humans are similar in many ways. For starters, they have similar levels of biological complexity. Both are aware of existing and both make conscious choices. Tom Regan, a philosophy professor at North Carolina State University, points out: "Animals have a fundamental moral right to respectful treatment. This intrinsic value is not respected when animals are reduced to mere tools in a scientific experiment." (FB Orlans) Animal testing... at the heart of the paper... reliable animal testing should be banned. Works Cited «Alternatives to animal testing.» tarih how disgusting.
