Things have gotten too out of control and things are going to get a lot worse. Ethically speaking, Zimbardo made the right choice because if the experiment had continued, it would have been harmful to the prisoner's psyche. Zimbardo explains the event that occurred by stating: “The power of this situation quickly and profoundly passed through most of those on this exploratory vessel of human nature. Only a few were able to resist situational temptations to give in to power and domination while maintaining some semblance of morality and decency.
