The Gibbs Reflective Cycle is a tool that I will be aware of and use as much as possible to do this personal reflection. As a new graduate, I am aware that I may have events and situations that I am unhappy with as I am still learning, so reflecting on these events and identifying ways to improve is essential to improving practice. Critical reflection and analysis as a healthcare professional are known to support continuous learning, encourage self-improvement, and promote up-to-date knowledge (Maloney, Tai, Lo, Molley, & Ilic, 2013). Overall, it helps improve nursing practice as the evaluation of the event and the actions performed are reflected so that if necessary, an improvement can occur the next time. A positive work environment is associated with greater job satisfaction and a greater likelihood of remaining in the work environment (Duffield, Roche, Blay & Stasa, 2011). This is important as some of the problems that occur on surgical wards are due to high nurse turnover, which results in inexperienced nurses working on the wards (Aiken et al. 2014). As a new graduate nurse, I will ensure that I make an effort to create a positive work environment for myself and others, so that we can better care for our patients. To do this, it is necessary to achieve a personal reflection and evaluation of the assistance so that the strengths and
