Is Wal-Mart a more positive or negative force in America? Wal-Mart is a chain like stores. It operates in a very large market. This company has both advantages and disadvantages. It has changed the relationship between large retailers and manufacturers. This company has been considered the main cause of the failure of several American companies along with a high unemployment rate in the United States. Some people seem to vote for Wal-Mart while others are not on its side. Supporters are for the company as it has allowed them to shop at low cost and at a one-stop shop. Others are against the company as it causes serious harm to small businesses and the U.S. economy as a whole. When Wal-Mart establishes itself in a city, it forces its competitors to close their businesses since they cannot compete in the current market. There are several businesses that fail when this company opens a branch in the city. However people do not agree with this since customers are the ones who go to buy goods from Wal-Mart. If there are any people who should be blamed it is the customers as they flock to the retail market to buy from them. This is why these retail businesses went out of business. The reason that makes customers go to shop at Wal-Mart is that there is ample parking, low prices, and they also provide superior quality goods and services to customers. The destruction of the downtown area began before Wal-Mart was founded. Wal-Mart is trying to bring with it new technologies that aim to cope with current technologies. We should find new ways of doing things and that's exactly what's happening with Wal-Mart. For example, Wal-Mart could embrace technology to supplant it. Internet shopping could be one of the new business technologies they are trying to embrace. Wal-Mart is seen as a burden to the government. The company receives subsidies in the form of tax credits and concessions. It is true that this company receives subsidies when it enters some communities which attracted them to move there. But it's also true that Wal-Mart pays a lot of money in taxes to the government. Surprisingly, sometimes their taxes are higher than theirs
