Grey says for us to read backwards and see the hand of God in the events that took place in the Old Testament. The entire event is a foreshadowing of Jesus' sacrifice and the fulfillment of the promise made to Abraham that through Jesus and the preaching of the good news all the nations of the earth will be blessed. Isaiah 53 says: "He was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and like a sheep is silent before its shearer, so he opened not his mouth." Isaac was an example of this total obedience to the will of the Father. The only question that asks is: “Where is the sheep for the burnt offering?” What it must have meant for Abraham to give up his firstborn son, but it was much greater for God the Father to give up his firstborn Son, that any of us who believe in Him will not be
