This focus area is flawed in that it only provides a requirement for a mentor to volunteer 10-15 hours per year. Realistically, as a mentor, a person needs to be more involved with another person to really make a difference. The Tennessee Achieves website even states that a mentor only needs to spend an average of one hour per month with an individual. This is not enough time to make adequate acquaintances with one person, let alone provide adequate guidance and mentorship to an aspiring young adult who is trying to succeed in this context.
