In many schools across the nation, adventure education and outdoor sports are very important. These different types of resumes offer benefits that many other resumes don't, as well as basic knowledge for outdoor living and activities. Not only will outdoor sports and adventure education get children moving, it will also help them become more aware of the world around them and be able to learn activities that are used outdoors on a daily basis. Given the many different types of these activities, there are hundreds of different things that can be done in a physical education classroom. There is not just one curriculum to follow, but there are many different sports that can teach different life lessons and work different parts of the student's body. Outdoor sports and adventure education is a curriculum that all teachers should incorporate across all different grade levels. Although there are two parts to this type of curriculum, both outdoor sports and adventure education largely overlap. Outdoor sports focus primarily on sports that are played primarily outdoors and that under normal conditions utilize the outside world. However, this also means that any sport played outdoors is considered an outdoor sport. Adventure education is more specific. Adventure education is defined as “an experiential process that takes place in challenging outdoor environments where the primary purpose is to build and strengthen inter- and intrapersonal relationships, personal health, leadership skills and environmental understanding” (“ Adventure education”).
