One of the major concerns of social networking sites that has emerged recently is the issue of cyber bullying. “Cyberbullying is the deliberate use of digital media to communicate false, embarrassing, or hostile information about another person. It is the most common online risk for all teens and it is a peer-to-peer risk.” (16) Numerous data have been collected highlighting the negative characteristics of social networking sites and cyberbullying or victimization among young people. Initially, bullying occurred during face-to-face interaction in the schoolyard. However, with the advancement of technology, new forms of bullying have occurred through the use of text messages on cell phones, posting comments or created videos on websites or blogs. (16) Numerous studies report the increase in cyberbullying. 32% of children aged 10 to 17 say they have been bullied via text messages. (16) It was reported that incidents of online harassment doubled in 2005 compared to 2000. (17) The National Children's Home study determined that 25% of children reported being bullied on the Internet at least once before to reach high school age. (17) Concern about exploitation or cyber harassment (advances, bullying and stalking) should be taken very seriously. Many victims report harmful feelings as a result of cyber victimization. Victims of cyber exploitation, whether bullying, stalking or unsolicited sexual advances, report feelings of unhappiness, imperfection, humiliation, depression and guilt, as well as self-harm and withdrawal from family and friends. (17) Teens have described an exceptional amount of cyberbullying occurring both from those in the tee…and in the middle of the paper…and also from increased peer pressure. (24) Researchers note that people are more likely to change their minds about liking an object or expression based on the reaction of others. As for teenagers, many begin to form their self-esteem based on the opinion of others. Many young people report negative feelings when the responses they receive on social networking sites are not ideal or expected. (24)ConclusionWe cannot deny that social media has taken over conventional media in the world today. We can easily see that they have an impact on our society. Social media is changing the way we interact, share and communicate, however it does not necessarily improve these aspects of our society. True, social media can have the exact opposite effect. Whether it is minimizing face-to-face interaction, violating the privacy of our society, and bullying social media on the Internet
