While 31.5% in West Germany and 26.5% in East Germany said they were satisfied with the current working hours (European Foundation, 2007). However, over the years, the percentage of the workforce wanting to work fewer hours has decreased, although the percentage of the workforce wanting to work more hours has increased (European Foundation, 2007). Compared to developing countries, where the workforce has to work to exhaustion and is paid little, Germany has developed much better in regulating working hours for its workforce. According to research, workers are satisfied with their working hours and some of them even demand more working hours, which means that working conditions in Germany have improved from 1991 to 1991.
