Physical development is the process that begins in human childhood and continues through late adolescence focusing on gross and fine motor skills as well as puberty. Puberty is the period of sexual maturation during which a person becomes capable of reproducing. Physical development focuses on increasing the body's abilities and performance. The sequence of physical development first involves general motor skills that require control of the large muscles of the body, arms and legs. Gross motor skills are larger movements that your child makes with their arms, legs, feet, or whole body. Physical and cognitive development are closely linked, especially in the early years. As most adolescents mature, the frontal lobes continue to develop. (Kuhn 2006 and silveri 2006) states that myelin is the fatty tissue that forms around axons and accelerates neurotransmission which may allow for better communication with other regions
