Technology has done a complete 360 degree turn. From phones that take up half of a coffee table to one that sits in its own corner. Phones aren't the only change, the Internet is too. There was a time when the internet didn't exist. When this happened, only words existed on the internet page. Now there are interactive images or whatever a person can think of. As the Internet has evolved, students have also evolved. Teenage students can now use almost any technological device they can get their hands on. Additionally, the Internet provides social media sites that allow students to connect with their friends outside of school; for example Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. If students are more interested in social media sites like these, should the education system change? In other words, would it be more effective to design educational lesson plans for teachers like a social media site for teaching teenage students? Yes, social media sites should be used to teach students because this would affect the budget of the education department and affect physical and psychological health. Before we dive into the details about the opposing team, we first need to discuss social media and education, as well as its relationship to technology. What is social media? According to Merriam Webster, social media sites are “forms of electronic communication through which users create online communities to share information, ideas, personal messages, and other content” (par.1). Simply put as far as students are concerned, it is the websites that allow them to talk to each other outside of school. But that's not how technology relates to the school system. The school system has adapted technology due to the increase in technology use among teenagers and everyone else in the middle of paper… technology professor position at the Open University. Naughton should rewrite this article because he is clearly leaving out a lot of things that should definitely be in the article. He also clearly states that he doesn't like pop-up ads over real images on the website. Well, it pays for the site that users use for free, and so most people wouldn't worry about pop-up ads. Believe it or not, social media sites can make a person an addict. For example, a person checks their Facebook or Twitter page every five to ten minutes. This can be time consuming due to the time used to check them, which could be used for something else.
