Barack Obama relates to the public and includes them in the speech and distinguishes his campaign from others. Obama uses many methods to engage the audience in the speech; this creates a better reaction from listeners because it gives the feeling that this candidate is thinking about more than just himself. He uses the character throughout the speech when referring to change and his campaign promises to include the crowd in saying "we" and not just referring to himself, the only time he says "I" is when he talks about being president ( Obama par. 19).
