Because most entertainment coverage of organ donation and transplantation has been negative for several decades, many people refrain from donating. Only 30-50% of people agree to donate a loved one's organs and around 30% sign up to a registry (Morgan 2007). While it may not be intentional, inaccurate information presented by the media enters the public's subconscious, leading them to believe the errors they see week after week. Specifically, television programs have an impact on the thoughts and feelings of their audiences.
