Odysseus, an epic hero on a hero's journeyAs a famous person once said, "Courage consists not in blindly ignoring danger, but in seeing it and overcoming it ", and that's exactly what Ulysses does. Homer's Odyssey is an epic tale about a Greek hero named Odysseus who is trying to return home after winning the Trojan War. Odysseus' true courage, intelligence, and great leadership skills are three of the many things that prove that Odysseus is an epic hero and that the journey he took can be classified as a hero's journey. An example where Odysseus shows his courage is when they get trapped in the cave of the Cyclops, he is not scared when Polyphemus asks them who they are and answers all his questions: "Who are you?" a voice like thunder asks. “We are Greeks, blown off course on our way home from Troy.” (Book IX 17) This alone shows how brave he was while anyone else would be scared of Cyclops coming forward instead of backing away.
