Oedipus the KingIn Oedipus the King the story of a ruler destined to rule the Kingdom of Thebes and kill his father and marry his mother, a ruler chosen to lead his people by answering a riddle simple and unexpectedly chosen to afflict a city. Oedipus is a tragic figure; imagine you were told that you will kill your father and marry your mother by some divine power, the thought of that will make a man maniacal. Which he did with Oedipus, after reading that short introduction to the story I would think it is a changing point in the story, well not really because any reader familiar with this story would know what happened. It seems to have a tragic and ironic twist. This is why I believe a turning point in the story is where Oedipus the King decides what to do with the murderer who has been plaguing the city of Thebes, the following led me to believe this. Well, because of what Oedipus established for the murderer, I firmly believe that all of Actium fell apart. Let me talk about the main moment when I had the feeling of believing the change in the story of the tragic Oedipus. Thebes, a city in the grip of the plague Oedipus finally does what Oedipus set out to do with the murderer, which is to "drive him away" and "He is the plague", he also states "Now my curse on the murderer", and, what more importantly, “I curse myself too.” It is ironic of him to say this because at this point he is the murderer and he doesn't know it. Oedipus has practically avoided himself at this point, he has no idea about the murderer. Oedipus now he is angry at the way his city has dealt with the problem that no citizen has reported himself or the suspect of the crime and turns to the blind prophet, again Tiresias, who reveals the truth to him even through riddles he cannot answer.
