You may have a roommate who may not like the same things as you. Another problem is having to clean one after the other. Sometimes you may not get along with that person and need some personal space. Some universities may not have single-person dorms, so if you are used to being alone you should stay off campus. Living on campus is a great way to meet new people. It's usually easier to meet someone with the same interests and thoughts as you. It's even better to have someone with the same major as you so that the two of you can work on projects together or ask them any questions. Plus, they may know more than you, so you have the chance to expand your knowledge about your specialization.
