Energy is an essential element that man needs to carry out his daily work. The world relies on generated energy, even though nuclear energy releases harmful gases that damage the Earth's atmosphere. Without electricity, the ability to operate simple devices that perform essential daily tasks could become useless. The energy is so vibrant today, that having a week without energy could create a conflict between people to gain power, so they can store food in a refrigerated and safe environment. In both articles, “Nuclear Power After Fukushima: It's Still the Energy of the Future” by Rod Adams and “Pedaling Our Way to Energy Independence” by Jonathan Facelli. Both authors address the importance of providing energy that is affordable and not harmful to the community. Although Adam's belief suggests broad ideas, I believe Facelli's is the best. Initially, author Rod Adams states the importance of having nuclear power plants to produce energy. Adams emphasizes that nuclear energy is a reliable, economical and safer source that should be relied upon as the main source of energy. He recommends the possibility of using uranium or thorium as a fundamental source of energy. Adams justifies his idea by explaining that a small amount of uranium could be used to generate more potential energy than oil. The risk from using nuclear energy is lower than from burning fossil fuels. Furthermore, using nuclear energy would cause the government to spend less than using fossil fuels to create energy (Adams). Finding new concepts to produce additional energy was the main goal of author Jonathan Facelli. He claims that the United States is seventy percent energy independent; therefore, thirty percent are sent to spend billions of dollars drilling in other countries and... half of paper... yes, splashing around at their desks producing energy while they work. Ultimately, pedals would be the most efficient way of producing energy for the world. Facelli's idea will reduce pollution on the Earth by decreasing obesity throughout the world. If employees generated energy every day in their workspace, they wouldn't need to work out at the gym afterwards. Gym memberships will become redundant and electricity bills will decrease worldwide. Furthermore, it is clear that it will take a couple of years to create this product, but paddles would represent an advanced way to generate energy for the future. Works Cited Adams, Rod.
