Educational Standards During the week, I came across this article while looking through old copies of Newsweek in the Library. I immediately thought, “Oh, an article the president wrote about education issues, I wonder what that is about.” The article covered issues surrounding education in our society today, how poor it is nationwide, and initiatives, including national education standards, that could potentially raise the level of education across our nation. While the issue of national educational standards has not been discussed in detail, it is important to note that our nation's president is aware of this and is trying to help the nation as a whole be aware of it as well. schools are no longer what they used to be. The truth is that they are much more similar to what they used to be. At the beginning of the 21st century, we cannot expect to prepare our children for the challenges of the global information economy in schools designed to meet the needs of the industrial economy.” This was the most important point made by the article.
