A man named Balian resided in an isolated village in France called Ibelin, with the job description of the local blacksmith. In the film "Kingdom of Heaven" Balian was in the blacksmith shop trying to concentrate on work, but at the same time deal with the emotional strain of the death of his son and wife. When baby Balian died, his wife was in tremendous despair from the emotional pain of mourning her deceased son. Psychologically the Balian wife could not deal with her son's pain; consequently he took his own life. After Balian's wife committed this terrible act, she began to examine her faith in God, because she wondered why God would allow so many tragedies to happen in her life. Balian buried his wife with a cross around her neck even though she had committed suicide. Balian was busy with the burial of his wife, as well as with the grief of the loss of his son, and most of all he wanted to atone for his sins, and also those of his wife. When he returns to the blacksmith shop, his brother removes the cross from his wife's neck and orders her head cut off. Her brother wanted her head chopped off, since she had taken her own life by committing suicide. When Balian returned to the blacksmith shop as he continued his daily work of working with iron or horseshoes. The fighting continued for several days, with both sides suffering huge casualties. Baron Balian ceded the city of Jerusalem to Saladin in exchange for protection of the citizens. After taking power, Islam was authenticated as the main religion, while respecting previous Christian religions. In conclusion Sibilla renounced her title as queen to be with Balian, and they both returned to her hometown located in France, he also continued working as a local blacksmith.
