They stop at a restaurant, Red Sammy Butts. The owner introduces himself as Red Sammy and tries to strike up a conversation with the family but it seemed only the grandmother was interested. The conversation went from a family discussion to a one-on-one. Owner Red Sammy and Grandma discussed the changes and dangers of the world. Without even acknowledging him, they discuss the escaped prisoner and the murderer, the misfit. As the two talked, Red Sammy told his grandmother about his experience with (misfit) boys unknown to him at the time to whom he had been kind enough to lend grace. Red Sammy explained that two young boys had come into the restaurant looking for work in exchange for gas. This is another area of situational irony and grace shown because Red Sammy had forced the favor on strangers. They continue talking and end with a final point, that “A good man is hard to find.” Where exactly is the good man that Grandma and Red Sammy were talking to?
