The serpent that appears to Jesus Christ is not reported in the Gospels. The serpent symbolizes the temptation of Adam and Eve when they were in the garden and ate from the forbidden tree and the Lord responds: "he will bruise your head". (Genesis 3:15). Throughout the film there were many moments where Satan was seen in the crowd as a way of saying “Here I am, I am the cause of your destruction.” One truly disturbing part was seeing Satan caressing an evil child in his arms, which is never mentioned in the Bible. However, Satan is trying to show Jesus Christ that he would never abandon his son, another way Satan tries to get Jesus Christ to abandon his identity . Another moment in the film that is not in the Bible is Mary Magdalene's flashback where she is stoned and kisses the foot of Jesus Christ. In John 8:1-11, Mary Magdalene is never mentioned as the woman caught in adultery.
