In the Chronicle movie, that figure is Matt. The Christ figures will have a sort of crucifixion, sacrifice and forgiveness; furthermore, Christ figures will have powers and will be responsible (pages 124-132). Jesus had great powers and also knew how to use the powers; Jesus was responsible enough to use his powers in the right way. Matt was the Christ figure for a number of reasons; the first is his forgiveness of Andrew. Whenever Andrew messed up or abused his powers, Matt freely forgave him and still loved him. This shows the great responsibility of being able to forgive each time again and again and then love him again. Matt's crucifixion occurred once Andrew killed Steve, Matt's good friend, and also Andrew no longer spoke to Matt. Matt made the ultimate sacrifice and the test of great power comes with great responsibility when he killed Andrew to save the city and all the civilians around. Killing Andrew is an act of great power because Andrew has always been able to protect himself but this time he was unable to do so. This great power came with the great responsibility of being able to kill his only remaining friend and loved one. So connect things right here, Jesus' extraordinary powers came with a very great responsibility and he handled it very well. In Chronicles, Matt was Jesus; Matt's power came with increasing responsibility, as each event unfolded before him
