Usually in the high school I graduated from the boys and girls would compete to see who would be the winner in class. There were slackers on both sides. What I could understand from the article that said “girls read more books” (60), in my case they did in the assigned class work the girls were the first to actually start and complete the assigned work. I didn't want to be part of the percentage of kids who don't carry their own weight. I also noticed that in Sommer's article there was a dropout list for kids. Boys at my old school typically dropped out before their senior year “Boys also dominate the dropout lists, fail lists, and learning disability lists.”
