Jessica was openly Jewish and ashamed to sign in public while Harry was the complete opposite. However they were able to resolve their differences. In 1962 they bought a house and later in the year Jessica's family moved from England to America and lived with her and Harry. After purchasing the house, Harry gave Jessica permission to get pregnant. For months they tried without results. Then, Jessica found out she had an underactive thyroid and took medicine for it. She then managed to get pregnant. The baby was expected for Christmas, but this did not happen. Instead, Jessica continued to feel labor pains and went into labor on January 17, 1963. She was taken to the hospital where she remained all day and night. Doctors determined that her pelvis was too narrow to deliver the baby. Then she had to undergo a cesarean section.
