While nurses are trained to provide more services to patients, they are often not allowed to do so due to the physician's wishes. Enabling a nurse to work to their maximum ability can make a huge difference in affordable healthcare. By collecting data, coordinating with multiple specialties (such as nursing, pharmacy, and medicine), submitting surveys, publishing results, research research efforts, and establishing limits or standards on what is to be collected, “an infrastructure for the collection and analysis of Interprofessional healthcare workforce data can be created” (“The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health,” 2015).
