Zinn in his book “A People's History of the United States” deals with various issues. Although the graphic novel adaptation does not cover all the details of American history, the author provides us with a critical view of American history in which its leaders act independently and not for the benefit of the entire population. It also gives us examples of atrocities committed by the US military around the world and the country's commitment to democracy that led it to commission its army to join World War II. The author then focuses on the positive and negative aspects of American history in an engaging way through the visual and dynamic production of historical documents. Sex and Gender Inequality Sex and gender inequality is one of the many issues covered in this book. This has always been a social problem in America and other nations. Sex and gender are different terms, where sex refers to the biological difference between men and women while gender refers to the differences between females and males that society constructs between the two. These inequalities, therefore, are created by society in which men and women are treated differently not because of what they can do but because of who they are. The author's commitment to portraying America as a society that ignores its rights is therefore in an attempt to create a society with fairness and gender equality where a woman and a man will be treated equally in workplaces and in other public places. Women's physical characteristics and their position as childbearers gave men the convenience to exploit and exploit people who were their sexual partners, companions, and guardians of their children. Socialization Socialization is another important issue... middle of paper .. ....equality is based on the economic advantage of specific groups. Zinn believes that a market is another mechanism that the state uses to improve its control, that prices are not determined by competitive market systems but by the state to continue inequality in the system. Zinn sees current economic inequality as symbolic interactionists where the privileged display their power and wealth through their lifestyle. The ruling class and wealthy in American society invest their wealth and time improving how the outside world sees them as the ones in control of every situation, while the poor and underprivileged are unable to meet the basics of life such as education and medical expenses.
