They have the right not to be afraid to be who they are and to express themselves in any way they see fit. Some of the most popular ways are poems, speeches and simply practicing their original culture. A Japanese-American woman named Kesaya E. Noda demonstrates this in her essay “Growing Up Asian in America.” He says that some people don't understand the traditions of his culture and choose to be prejudiced against him; however, Noda practices her culture's prayers and other traditions even though she was born in America, regardless of what people think (34). Americans are allowed to use their freedom to express themselves while continuing to practice their past cultures. America is made up of thousands of different cultures, and America allows people to practice those cultures. Many Americans practice their culture through food, prayer, dance, and other personal traditions. Freedom of self-expression allows people to try and experience multiple cultures. An example would be an American family eating Italian food for dinner or maybe even singing old folk songs from another country. For this reason they are known as free and expressive people, whether it is to show gratitude or maintain their culture
