“The writer appeals to the audience's logic, intellect, or reason” (Smith, n.d.). The best example in the essay is when Hamblin specifies that “Forty-seven percent of the time, the average mind wanders. It wanders about a third of the time while a person reads, talks to other people, or takes care of children. He also wanders 10% of the time during sex. And that wandering, according to the psychologist, is not good for well-being" (Hamblin, 2014). This statement is very powerful indeed. Hamblin provides statistics and cites the person from whom he obtained these facts. This is definitely a great use of logic because it shows that he is smart and knows exactly what he is talking about
