Holiness is something that almost everyone strives to achieve in their lives. In the movie Grapes of Wrath you learn a lot about holiness and how when Jim Casey describes holiness you realize that everyone can really be a saint in one way or another. At the beginning of the film you meet Casey almost immediately. He returned to the hometown of Tom Joad, the main character of the film. Casey was Tom's preacher and you found out that he was very good and could give a sermon to anyone and they listened to him and learned from him. When Tom first went back, he still thought Casey was a preacher, but when he thought he was, Casey quickly corrected him by saying, "I'm not preaching much anymore. The spirit isn't much in people." nothing more; and what's worse, the spirit is no longer in me. Of course every now and then the spirit moves and I call a meeting, or when people prepare food, I give it to them. a grace, but I don't put my heart into it. I only do it because they expect it." You learn a lot about Jim Casey at the beginning of the movie and continue to learn how good of a person he is throughout the movie. Jim Casey is my favorite character in the movie Grapes of Wrath because he is insightful and makes you it makes you understand what is really happening. Jim Casey is someone you could identify with while watching the movie Grapes of Wrath because he is very down to earth and knows what is going on. Watching the movie you saw that Casey was someone who had seen a lot and been through a lot himself. When you find out everything that's going on, you quickly realize that all these families were sent out on the road with nowhere to go but west. When they tried to kick Casey out, he managed to stick around and stay ... middle of paper... or him. He died for something he believed in and that's something he would have wanted. These are the reasons why Jim Casey is my favorite character in the movie, Grapes of Wrath. When you watch the film it's a different lifestyle, one that I couldn't imagine living. They lived on the streets and this was when a penny could buy you a candy, now pennies are almost worthless. Casey learns a lot during the journey and understands that not everyone is a saint on earth because they can be a saint after the earth and begins to recover the spirit. He is very thoughtful and caring in an age where everyone is usually mean and selfish, he is very humble and doesn't expect things in return and he died for what he believed in. When he died he still affected everyone who knew him. Casey is a name that everyone will remember and can never forget.
