In Politics, Aristotle describes the role of politics and how it can achieve a virtuous life in a community. Aristotle mentions the common good and how we as a society should work for the common good. However, Aristotle never gives a precise definition of what the common good is but by looking at the text we are able to determine exactly what he meant by it. We will analyze what Aristotle means by common good and what role it plays in his thinking on political community. The common good cannot be achieved by the actions of one person, but through the collective actions of the public as a whole that contribute to creating a prosperous and virtuous community. In Politics Aristotle mentions 3 types of governments, kingship,
