Black feminism is a school of thought among African Americans, which argues that sexism, class oppression, and racism are inextricably linked together. “The Color Purple” illustrates the advantages of women in friendships and how powerful strong female relationships are. Additionally, the ability to tell stories to each other in a friendship gives women the power to resist oppression and become more dominant by using their own voice. This film highlights how relationships between women together form a bond, to build a source of love in a world full of straight people.
