Topic > Analysis of the Scott V. Recottson Case - 1029

This would have attracted a lot of attention in the African American community and would have caused slaves to exercise their ability to sue their owners for the same rights as Dred Scott and his family. The Supreme Court also had to consider the idea that by ruling in Scott's favor, it could also anger thousands of American citizens across states. Especially those in the South, where the decision was made, and where slaveholding is an important part of society. The Supreme Court may not help but upset a lot of people with many of its decisions, but it will also make a lot of people happy. The Supreme Court cannot at all resolve the central political conflicts that occur in society. The only thing they can do is rule in favor of certain cases and manage the results that ultimately come. In my opinion, I think many people barely know the existence of the Supreme Court, so any influence they try to have on the political world in society is not taken into consideration.
