Battlefield is a first-person shooter franchise developed by Dice. Dice is a Swedish company looking to take gaming to the next level with its unrivaled Frostbite engine. Dice puts together games that include a compelling story, high-level action, with stunning visuals to attract potential customers. Battlefield is such a popular video game franchise thanks to superior company marketing, a loyal fan base, and an all-around great experience when playing with friends. Competition plays a big role in the video game industry and the two companies that are always neck and neck are Activision, which makes the Call Of Duty franchise, and Dice, which makes the Battlefield franchise. These companies have been so successful thanks to their marketing department. For example, the newly released Battlefield 4 commercials feature interviews with real players who have played the beta version of the game. They also mixed real gameplay footage with collapsing buildings and gunfire. This makes the average consumer want to go out and buy the game because of the advertising. Dice has invested millions of dollars in its advertising campaigns on male-dominated television channels such as ESPN, Fox Sports, Spike, etc. This allows them to reach their audience and then make a profit when these potential customers go to their local Best Buy or GameStop to purchase the product. Within the advertising bass, the heavy music sets the tone to make the explosions larger than life and this is used to pump up the target audience who in this case are older males who want to let loose without actually getting into a real life fight . At the end of each commercial Dice displays their slogan "only in Battlefield", this is used as a message to... middle of paper... there are very few repercussions. A personal example I see often is a topic called quickscoping. Quickscoping involves using a sniper rifle, but if you aim down sights for more than a second you are automatically demonized in the online community as a "noob with no skills." A noob is someone who is new to the game and isn't very good at it. But luckily to counter the assholes, both online communities allow players to silence the assholes and get back to having fun. Battlefield is a very popular franchise for a reason. Dice puts the fans first to make a great game. Dice does not release a new game every year, which allows for better gameplay quality when the next game in the franchise is released. Battlefield is such a popular video game franchise thanks to superior company marketing, a loyal fan base, and a great experience when playing with friends.
