Yes, there may be government funded public assistance programs. As we transition to a robot economy, these programs will be overwhelmed by the sheer amount of people needing assistance. These programs will eventually have money problems themselves like we have today, leaving some with little or no assistance. As demonstrated in the financial crisis, middle and lower class people were hit the hardest and continued to suffer further cuts. There was an issue that needed to be addressed with the mindset exercised during that time, which I feel will happen during the transition
