When I was in kindergarten I had a friend from Indiana Katrina, and I'm still friends with her today. I came home from preschool to tell my parents about my new friend Katrina. I mentioned how beautiful and "tanned" she looked. I was so young that I didn't understand or understand that there was a difference between us. I considered us equals and she was simply my best friend. As I approached older age, I was told that people were different from me, I was taught that there was a difference beyond the color of my skin. This didn't affect me though, I continued to be friends with Katrina and think of her as one
