History connects the things of our present to our past, which allows us to predict in which direction we progress. Because to progress we must have a clear framework on which some institutions are founded, and the study of history paints that picture for us. History not only connects the present to the past, but also contributes to our overall sense of identity because “a country without history is like a person without memory”.
