Taylor wrote about the “Racial Privacy Initiative” that some Californians were trying to get on the ballot in November 2002. This policy proposal stated: “By reemphasizing America's checkered racial history, the racial groups focus our attention on what divides us, rather than what unites us. If we want to solve the educational, social and economic problems of tomorrow, we must unite our hearts and minds in pursuit of common goals. As long as we continue to count by skin color, we can never become “one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” Paul Taylor Race Taylor in his book notes that racism can arise from any type of racial thinking, he also clarified the false thinking of racial biology and that race is nothing more than differences in class divisions. Race continues to have a place in our conversation; some might see it as simple words to be uttered at the right time and in the right place, but racial thinking seems to live in its own little world, unrelated to any ill will towards anyone. It is as if it were only connected to the inability to limit the pursuit of profit and to emphasize justice and civility towards political authority. Taylor also talks about how racist ideology and practices can certainly lead to outcomes that can focus on one race and cause economic hardship for that specific group. Taylor said
