Did the child stutter by 12 months? Were they able to respond to their name within 12 months? Avoids eye contact and wants to be alone? Depending on the answers, this child may be autistic. Autism is a term used to describe a group of complex brain developmental disorders. (Web Editor with Autism Speaks, 2005-2011). These disorders include significant social, communication, and behavioral challenges. People with autism process information in their brains differently than others. (CDC&P, 2010). With early intervention and treatment, this child's development will be greatly improved. Since the life of parents of an autistic child is always challenging, they can use all the help and information they can get. A life coach would be able to help this parent organize their busy schedule, which would help them better manage everything an autistic child needs to enhance their development. By defining a course of treatment, establishing a schedule, and examining the long-term results of early intervention, parents of a child with autism will be more likely to help their child's development. First, the child's parents must define a course of treatment. To give the autistic child the best possible head start in life, early intervention is very important. A life coach can help parents find local resources to help them with these interventions. Some of the things needed for the autistic child are educational and behavioral interventions which are normally performed by an occupational, physical and/or speech therapist.
