Aldous Huxley explores the concept of utopian and human perfection in his novel, Brave New World. The story is about a world where the controllers have created order for the citizens of the world. They also obtained obedience from virtually every person. Children are no longer born, they grow up. In these factories, children are conditioned and brainwashed to become whatever the Controllers, the leaders of this global government, want them to be. Thus is born a society in which everyone has a place and a purpose. No one is unhappy because men and women have been conditioned to love their place in life. The motto of this new world is community, identity and stability. By furthering these three goals, the Controllers gained dominion over every aspect of human life. In the world created by Aldous Huxley, community plays a vital part of everyday life and with a strong community the Controllers had greater stability. Since cultivation, humans have been brainwashed. By repeatedly playing messages during children's sleep, certain ideas and actions become ingrained in their heads. “Let's make them hate loneliness; and we arrange their lives so that it is almost impossible for them to have it." (p. 211) Since everyone is always in contact with others like them, new ideas and thoughts that are dangerous to the Controllers are discouraged. One of the characters in Brave New World is Bernard Marx. Bernard is considered ugly and stunted by others. Bernard also has different opinions on the concept of love than his fellow citizens. When Bernard affiliated himself with John,...... middle of paper...... control of one in a state of change The ultimate desire of the world government is to have absolute control and that control can be achieved through enforcing their beliefs, community, identity and stability. The government instills a strong sense of community in its citizens to prevent any independent thinking. By always being with like-minded people, they are less likely to form the own opinions. The world government also establishes a caste system to create purpose in the minds of citizens. Finally the government has eliminated everything that is unpredictable. By eliminating disease, war, famine, and the like, the world government has a greater sense of control. By promoting the three principles the Controllers have created a situation that they believe is a happy and utopian society. Works Cited Brave New World Aldous Huxley
