Question: Describe the development of the car from its beginnings to the present day. Outline projects currently in the research and/or development phase. In the second industrial revolution, there was a revolutionary development of a vehicle called the automobile. From then on, the car began to change our lives in recent years. Today the car has become more and more useful for traveling from one place to another. I believe that in the future the car can use more types of fuel and have better energy saving ability. The history of the car is truly a legend. The first steam automobile was designed by Nicolas-Joseph. The maximum speed of this car is only 6 km/hour (GOCURRENCY, 2011). Furthermore, the weight of the car is very high, it was impossible to drive it on the road because there was no bituminous road then. When the second industrial revolution arrived, the internal combustion engine appeared and truly changed the future of the car. In 1807, François Isaac de Rivaz designed the first internal combustion engine, using a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen to generate energy, making the car lighter. In September 1893, after several small modifications to Lenoir's design, the first gasoline-powered automobile appeared. The Henry Ford was considered the first automobile on the road. Then they started selling cars with the Ford Motor Company founded in 1903. Thus the car became a new tool for traveling instead of the carriage. The key development began in 1911. Charles Kettering invented the electric ignition and starter motor (Discovery Channel, 2011) .
