All I know are old stories, told by someone else, and how the media portrays it. I guess to some extent this novel is accurate. However, not all police officers go to a park, get drunk and have sex with some police groupies. I think every policeman has their own way of approaching the job. Rather it's hanging out with people who understand what you're going through, or just going out for a beer after the patrol, and then group sex is none of my business. At the end of the novel, after the sentence and the six-month reprieve, Lieutenant Willard Woodcock and Sergeant Nick Yanov revisited McArther Park. Woodcock said they, us troublemakers, should not be allowed back in the same district. Yanov replied: "They weren't troublemakers... they were just policemen. Pretty ordinary guys.
