The angel was an important thing in the house for the tree; it has been passed down for many generations making it very special for everyone in the house. Even though we children didn't understand it until we grew up, we still knew the meaning of the angel and why it had to be placed at the very top of the tree. Our parents would make sure to grab an extension cord from the bottom of the stairs to reach the plug on the angel. They would then take a ladder and make sure the angel lights were not burned out, and if they were, they would be replaced. Then they would climb the ladder and put it on top. The corner was turned on every evening before going to sleep and left on all night until the next morning. On Christmas Eve it would be kept lit all night and into Christmas Day. The presents were placed under the tree after all of us children were asleep, that's how it happens every year when we are too
