The brain and behavior play an important role when it comes to this case study. Some of the different behaviors include the reticular activating system and the prefrontal cortex. In the textbook, the reticular activating system was defined as “consciousness and alertness” (Komarraju 43). Considering that consciousness and attention play an important role when it comes to this study on media multitasking, we see that the psychological process is somewhat represented when it comes to the decisions the brain decides to make. Also in the textbook it is stated that the prefrontal cortex comes into play when managing social judgment. The prefrontal cortex can be compared to the study used in the article regarding the whole idea of pre-planning and decision making when it comes to the learning environment. While some of the things I learned in the course that went against the arguments included the somatic nervous system. In the textbook the somatic nervous system is defined as “controlling voluntary behavior” (Komarraju 42). The actions performed by the students during their studies were clearly involuntary because they were not performed in the form in which the individual would have had the opportunity to do so.
