Throughout high school, I was never a person who possessed the habit of procrastination. I always did my best to do my most important work first, such as homework, school projects, and other tasks for the extracurricular groups I participated in. So, I do the less important activities second, like shopping, watching television, and going out with my friends. By not procrastinating, I got phenomenal grades in high school. In most cases I got honor roll because I did my homework on time and could understand what my teacher was teaching. Now that I'm in college, my way of doing schoolwork has changed a bit. Due to poor understanding of my schoolwork, waiting until the last minute to start my work once it is assigned to me, and not prioritizing it properly, I have developed a habit of procrastination. Procrastination is a habit I'm working hard to get rid of. My goal is to completely stop the practice of procrastination, what I consider to be a bad habit. Procrastination is an act that I know could evolve into something bigger than school responsibilities like skipping class, failing homework, and dropping out of school. If I continue to practice putting less important tasks ahead of those that are more important, it may one day lead me to neglect my family. So, I want to break this habit of procrastination because it will drastically improve my grades, increase my chances of graduating with honors, and most importantly, I will become a better person. I have about six more weeks left in my first semester as a freshman. I will need two weeks of practice to better understand my work, applying another two weeks of practice to start my tasks timely and earlier... halfway through the paper......and I will watch television for two hours Monday - Thursday . I will spend more hours working on my homework rather than hanging out with friends and watching television. I plan to maintain this schedule for the rest of the semester. I know that if I follow the plan I have I will not only improve my grades, but I will also prioritize my school work better. If I continue to follow each step for the remaining weeks of the semester, my habit of procrastination will no longer exist when it comes to doing my schoolwork. I will know how to tackle my school work without distractions and I will know how to turn in my assignments on time. My plans to succeed will come from my work ethic of studying more and doing fewer extra activities. Understanding my assignments and prioritizing better will get me started on the job when it's assigned to me.
