This poem shows distinct strengths and weaknesses, but overall I found it to be quite well done. The meaning of this poem emerges effectively, aided by the use of strong imagery, but slightly hindered by word choice which interrupts the flow a few times within, and the lack of punctuation in some areas which can leave some parts confusing. The beginning of this poem is something that every person, especially in this nation, should hear at some point in their lives. This popular quote is often used by parents to encourage children to work towards their dreams and to encourage the belief that anything is possible if determination is involved. Broken down, the meaning of “Aim for the moon, if you miss you will land among the stars!” it is quite complex.
